A Star Brighter Than the Sun shojo anime revealed the first teaser visual and trailer, along with the main staff, cast, and an October 2025 release date. The anime was originally announced in February this year.
Studio KAI will handle the animation, with Aya Kobayashi as the director. You can watch the first teaser trailer for the anime below.
The main voice cast consists of Minori Fujidera and Yuki Ono. You can see their characters below.

Kazune Kawahara writes and draws the A Star Brighter Than the Sun (Taiyo Yori mo Mabushii Hoshi) manga series, which has been serialized in Shueisha’s Bessatsu Margaret shojo magazine since June 2021. Ten volumes have been released as of November 2024, with Volume 11 releasing in Japan on April 24, 2025.
The manga received a nomination for the 12th an an Manga Award in 2021 and later secured a win in its 14th edition in 2023. Additionally, in the 2023 edition of Takarajimasha’s Kono Manga ga Sugoi! (This Manga Is Amazing!) guidebook, it was ranked 8th among the top manga for female readers.
VIZ Media licensed the manga series in English, describing the story for the first volume:
Sae and Koki have been friends since childhood. One fateful day at the end of middle school, she has a revelation: Koki has grown up! Now they’re in high school, and she has another revelation: she has feelings for Koki! But Sae isn’t the only girl who does… The question is, who does Koki have feelings for?!
